Solarize Philly Press Conference

Date: Tuesday, December 5th, 2017
Time: 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Location: 1335 E Palmer St., Philadelphia, PA 19125

The Philadelphia Energy Authority (PEA) will hold a press conference on Tuesday, December 5th at 1:oopm to celebrate the first round of Solarize Philly. We will be joined by Council President Clarke, Councilman Green, our three installers, our equipment distributor, L&I, PECO, the Fire Department, the School District of Philadelphia, and the Office of Sustainability.

We will be announcing the outcomes of Solarize Philly, including:

  • 186 households across the city signed contracts to install solar on their homes.
  • Solarize Philly demonstrates an investment of nearly $3 million in residential rooftop solar.
  • As part of Solarize Philly, PEA trained 18 high school students in solar installation in 2017, and has plans to train an additional 40 students in the spring and summer of 2018.

PEA will be reopening Solarize Philly in early 2018, with a subsidized financing option available for low- and moderate-income households. All homeowners interested in solar can sign up now at www.solarizephilly.org to get on the waiting list, and PEA will begin screenings for the second round of Solarize Philly in January 2018.

The press conference is being held at the home of a Solarize Philly participant.  Solar States will be on-site installing solar on the roof the day of the press conference. Attendees will be able to see an installation in-progress and meet trainees who have recently joined Philadelphia’s solar workforce!

Please let us know if you plan on attending by emailing solarize@philaenergy.org. Thank you for solarizing Philly with us!
