Located at The Navy Yard in Philadelphia, CBEI develops and demonstrates systems solutions in a real-world regional context for future national deployment.
Mayor’s Office of Sustainability
In Mayor Michael Nutter’s January 2008 inaugural address, he pledged to make Philadelphia the greenest city in America. To move toward this goal, he created the Mayor’s Office of Sustainability.
Mayor’s Office of Transportation & Utilities
The Mayor’s Office of Transportation and Utilities works to make sure that Philadelphians can get where they are going, whether by foot, bike, car or transit. This Office also attempts to ensure that Philadelphia’s water, electricity and gas systems are of the highest caliber. To do so, they ensure that the city’s investments and plans improve both mobility and sustainability.
PECO has partnered with the City of Philadelphia to help meet the goal of reducing citywide building energy usage by 10% by 2015. As part of this effort, PECO is developing an online tool which will enable building managers to electronically transfer their electrical energy usage into the Portfolio Manager benchmarking tool.
Philadelphia Gas Works (PGW) is the largest municipally-owned gas utility in the country. PGW’s Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) provides help to households struggling to pay for their heat.
Philadelphia Building Benchmarking
Designed to reduce citywide building energy use, building energy benchmarking and disclosure is a key part of Philadelphia’s Greenworks plan. After passing the Energy Benchmarking ordinance in 2012, Philadelphia joined a select group of cities committed to promoting better performing, more efficient buildings. Benchmarking is an opportunity to reposition and repurpose Philadelphia as a city of the future, and cannot be done without your involvement.

The Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC) spurs investments that create jobs, revitalize neighborhoods, and drive growth to every corner of Philadelphia. PIDC is a non-profit founded by the City of Philadelphia and the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce in 1958.
