Green Building United – Continuous Commissioning: Advancing building performance in the new internet-of-things environment

Date: Tuesday, February 27, 2018
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
Location: Penn State at the Navy Yard, Bldg 7R, Classroom 211, 1101 Kitty Hawk Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19112

About the Event
Thanks to a new environment known as the internet of things (IoT), building owners can empower themselves and their facilities teams by facilitating data acquisition and analysis from a building’s hvac building automation system. HVAC building automation systems traditionally have been designed as operating systems, and their network architecture and software were not designed to support data acquisition and analysis. Increasingly, BACNet and open protocol enabled IoT devices are able to acquire and analyze data from building automation systems and provide facilities teams with meaningful and actionable insights into the operation and performance of their buildings. These insights allow a team to implement continuous commissioning resulting in reduced utility, repair, and replacement expenses; improved tenant comfort and equipment uptime; and increased net operating income and net asset value of the building.
